Swindon Health Inequalities Group

Once a month, an informal meeting  is held to discuss ongoing health inequalities initiatives with specific emphasis on cancer screening and improving awareness and uptake,  with partners in Swindon and the surrounding localities.

Inequalities are unjust and preventable disparities that affect health across various communities. These can be influenced by factors such as education, housing, employment, ethnicity, and access to health services and programmes.

Current stakeholders attending this meeting include members of the BHG team, representatives of BHG practices, Live Well (Swindon Borough Council), Changing Suits, and Wyvern Health Group. The group would welcome new members from organisations within Swindon and Shrivenham who are keen to engage with communities who are often not well represented and as a consequence their health needs not met.

The aim of this informal discussion is to highlight the health inequalities faced by the people of Swindon and surrounding areas, to review what stakeholder organisations are doing in response, and to explore how we can work collaboratively to implement sustainable and impactful changes for the community.
